Yellow Dogtooth Violet

The plant can grow up to 10 inches tall.  The yellow flowers are up to 3 1/2 inches aross with 6 petal like parts that tend to curve backward.  A single stalk emerges from a pair of leaves with a solitary nodding flower at the top.
They like moist woods, wooded ravines, shaded bluffs.  Can also be called yellow trout lily.  The mottld leaves resemble the sides of a brown or brook trout.
