Spring Beauty (Wildflower)

Purslane Family
Plants arise from bulbs with flower stalks to 6 inches tall.  One pair of opposite, grass like leaves occur about halfway up the stem.  A single, strap-like leafe up to 7 inches long is produced at the base.  Not all plants flower in a year. Their single leaf identifies their presence.

Flowers, usually less than 1/2 inch across, vary from white to pink, with distinctive darker pink veins running the  length of the 5 petals.

The like moist woods and lawns.
