Another bird walk

This appears to be the Clymene Haploa Moth
The bike path at Les Arends Forest Preserve

I think this is a baby Baltimore Oriole

This baby bird looks like it just came out of the water.

A pair of baby Cowbirds.

Red-winged blackbirds are in abundance.

Look how the markings of the head are beginning to show up.

There is another Heron Rookery a bit north of where we live.
I got the opportunity to check it out.  I know there were a lot more nest that we saw before the Spring, but I only saw this one today.
Does not look like any of these have fledged yet either.
Soon.
Have a great day.

Another new bird for me.

In that puddle at the front of our subdivision I came across a Spotted Sandpiper.  Actually there were 2 of them.  Another first for me.

They were pretty nice to pose for me.

Over by the hospital, I saw my first egrets of the spring.

By the hospital there were more Spotted Sandpipers.

Over in Oakhurst Forest Preserve there were cormorants,

The Canadian geese are still nesting.  It will not be long before they will have hatching eggs.
There are several nests of mute swans over at Alden Gardens, where my Dad used to live.  They may be having young by the middle of the month.

The usual first of spring birds are arriving. The grackles, cowbirds, red-winged black birds.

At the front of the subdivision where we live, we have a sitting goose.

More swallows.

Rock Run Rookery Preserve

Second stop on my birding day in Will County, Rock Run Rookery Preserve.
As I pulled into a parking place, this flock flew up in front of me. I thought it was gulls.
As I looked closer, it turned out to be White Pelicans!

There were so many.

Could not believe my good fortune.
